I had a list of sort of tangential things that I wanted to do before I went back to working on plot. Instead of checking them off, I seem to be generating more and more of these things.
Since I did have a whole month basically without writing on this project, it's probably only to be expected that new thoughts would pile up, even if I didn't really realize it, though.
